Self Clinching Nuts are threaded inserts made of steel with a specially formed shank. They are used in thin walled moulded components made of steel, light alloy, NF metal. These threaded inserts are pressed into the moulded components with pre-punched receiving holes. During this process, the material flows out of the area of the hole wall into the annular grooves of the Clinching Nut thereby making a permanent connection. They are used for high torque and heavy push out applications in thin walled moulded components from 0.8 mm thickness.
Self Nuts have distinct advantages like: easy & quick installation; high torque & pull out strength; can be used in surface treated, ready plated parts, so eliminating the need for time consuming cleaning of internal threads and reworking damage at the surface; minimal outside dimensions for space and weight saving designs with an aesthetic look. Nuts are used in various applications such as sheet metal control panels, PCB's, UPS, Invertors, Household appliances, Medical & Pharmaceutical equipments, etc.
Installation of nuts is simple, quick and convenient. Just insert them in punched or drilled holes and then apply a squeezing force to embed the clinching ring completely in the sheet metal. The clinching ring locks the displaced metal behind the tapered shank, ensuring high push out resistance. High torque out resistance is ensured when the knurled platform is embeded in the sheet metal. All clinching takes places on one side of the sheet and the reverse side remains flush and smooth.
